Behind the route briefings

Vaulthopperradarsr is an independent publication for touring riders who plan their own trips. We write route briefings, not brochures: what makes a road worth riding, what can change it, and what you need ready when it does.

The site is run by Vaulthopperradarsr Route Media Ltd from Kendal, at the edge of the Lake District, where narrow passes and changeable weather make good teachers.

Sources

Route figures come from road authorities and operators such as ANAS, Grossglockner Hochalpenstrassen AG, Statens vegvesen, Caltrans, Alaska 511, Yukon 511, Vegagerðin (road.is) and VicTraffic, plus widely published references. We label them Sourced.

Estimates

Reserves, averages and fuel gaps that depend on your bike and conditions are marked Estimate. They are starting points for your own calculation.

Independence

We do not accept payment to feature routes, products or businesses. We are not affiliated with any manufacturer, tourism board or road authority.

Corrections

Roads change. If you find something out of date, file a road observation and we will review it and update the briefing.

Our limitWe describe routes; we cannot see today's snow line, rockfall or station hours. Always verify current conditions locally before you ride.
